Soia & Kyo Outerwear Sale

If you're not familiar with the brand, Soi & Koy designs original, tailored wool, puffer and leather jackets. I bought one of their wool coats last year and get compliments on it every time I wear it.
The sale ends Monday at 8pm, but I see that sizes are going fast, so get over there, don't procrastinate!

Lady-Like Cardigans

How I wish I could bask in the sun all year round. My only consolation for the dreaded winter weather is dreamy sweaters like these.
If someone would be so cruel as to point out that spending $150 on a sweater is sheer madness, I would tell them "It's cheaper than moving to LA". That's right, I firmly believe that by buying sweaters at Anthropologie, I'm actually saving money I would otherwise have to spend on a cross-country move. West coast dwellers, do not get discouraged. I will be your neighbor one day (if I don't end up in Miami first)! It does get chilly in LA, right?

Sculpted Anemone Cardigan
Wooly applique flowers adorn a perfectly feminine silhouette.

Aestival Zenith Cardigan
LiaMolly has done it again!
Beautiful pattern + flattering silhouette + unique details + good quality
= LOVE at first sight!
I know what I want, now all I need is to take up a collection
to bring my love home.

Waste of a Day, Waste of a Coupon

Had a birthday coupon I needed to use up in July.
Decided to head to the Rockefeller center Anthropologie.
Made a really bad decision of driving instead of taking the train.
Did not find what I was looking for and ended up wasting the coupon on a mug and an apron. (Why the hell can't birthday coupons be used on line?)
Got back into the car at 8:15 PM.
Got home starving and exhausted at 10:20PM.
Apparently, Mr President decided to visit the big apple on the very night we ventured out in the car. Half of FDR drive was closed in honor of the occasion. Husband and I were inching away for two hours, fantasizing about all the food we would eat at home.
In the end, we ended up spending more on gas, parking and babysitting than what I gained by using my birthday coupon. I did, however, gain an immense appreciation for shopping on line.

Learned three very important lessons which hopefully will remain vivid in my mind.
1. Never drive to Manhattan without first listening to the traffic report.
2. Never drive to Manhattan without adequate food supply in the car.
3. NEVER DRIVE TO MANHATTAN.

Multi Use Curtain

While drooling over Brandon Kidd's photography, I came across these pictures of a lovely desert table at a wedding with Anthropologie Flamenco shower curtain used as a backdrop.
All you need is a little imagination, and your next household purchase can turn into a multi-purpose investment.

Happy Sewing

Ok, I confess, I'm somewhat of a DIY type. Or more accurately a DIY wanna-be.
I'm very attracted to sewing and though my skills in that department are pretty limited, I do love all kinds of sewing paraphernalia. There's something very feminine, almost ritualistic, in the process of sewing and I find the even click-click sound of a sewing machine very soothing.
I love buying fabrics and looking up "how to" instructions on-line, telling myself that one day, when I'm not so busy, I will get to sewing some decorative pillows and twirly skirts for my daughter (pillows and skirts are about the extent of my sewing skills at the moment).

It seems that I'm not alone in my infatuation with sewing, since trendy stores like Urban Outfitters feel it's worthwhile to stock sewing machines and other sewing accessories. Neat.

Linen Dress Form - $300
Available in sizes 4-16

I always wanted a dress form like this one. Mind you, I don't actually have any draping skills (draping is what you do on a dress form), but somehow that doesn't seem to be much of an impediment to owning one. Besides, there are so many other uses for it. You can stick pins into it (it's a giant pincushion!), you can dress it up (for reasons known to you alone), or, and this is by far the most useful purpose for buying one if you don't actually drape, you can use it to take pictures of all those Anthropologie clothes you plan on selling on E-bay. Whatever the usefulness or lack thereof, I think dress forms are cool.
