WANTED (Part 2)

Browsing through my old posts...

Does anyone remember what this bag is called? Anyone knows the brand/maker? As you can see I'm still not over my bag browsing obsession.

Remember the Cormorant Button-Up ?
Oh why do I procrastinate? I waited for it to go on sale and then couldn't find my size. This seems to be a recurring theme with me, but by the time I decided I REALLY want it, I couldn't even find it on eBay. Looking for size 2. Please help!

Something to complete your 50's look.
I found these vintage silver catseye frames on Etsy.
Aren't they lovely? Almost makes me wish I had a prescription.

50's Do's and Dont's

I have a love-hate relationship with 50's style fashion. When all these 50's style bathing suits started appearing, on Anthro website, I thought they were cute and feminine.
Reality check. As cute as they may be, unless you're a die hard retro fan, wouldn't you feel just a bit awkward/self conscious wearing SUCH big bikini bottoms in public?
Maybe someone with a stick figure can pull it off, but wouldn't an average or above average size bum look ridiculous in some of these? I do like the one-piece bathing suits as they are more figure flattering.

50's Overkill

En Pointe Bikini

Wild Watermelon Piece
I have pictures of my grandmother, wearing an exact replica of this bikini (or rather the original version, this one being a replica). I remember thinking "how ever did she manage to keep that top ON?"

Revival Bikini

Natalie One-Piece
Very "Marilyn Monroe".

50's Done Right

Sunspots One-Piece

Stacked Odds Bikini
I like this one a lot. Wish it wasn't a halter.

Faint Breeze Bikini
I like the color, the pattern and the bottoms on this one,
but there is no way I would ever wear that top.

Switcheroo Bikini
Very close to perfect. Not too much and not too little,
nice color/pattern. My one regret is that it's a halter, which I guess I could live with, though ideally I prefer shoulder straps.

I remember this cardigan from 2005, the "golden age" of Anthropologie.
It's got incredibly beautiful detailing. High quality embroidery, a velvet sash

If I could afford it, I'd be snatching it up myself.

Calypso Skirt

An interesting find from ModCloth.com

The Calypso Skirt ($54.99) is so unusual and romantic. It looks like something out of a storybook. Not sure what occasion one would wear this skirt to, but it's nice to see something completely out of the ordinary.

The top layer is delicately ruffled, has an asymmetrical hem sweeping from bodice to train, and three hook-and-eye closures at high waist.
There's an elasticized-back waistband, and a corseted ribbon tie over it.
According to reviews, this skirt runs very small, so order size up.

I can see the Calypso skirt worn with some black fishnet stockings
and vintage style lace-up booties similar to these.

Granny Bags

Since my encounter with the Evolution Shoulder bag, in a natural progression of events, I ended up browsing for bags on the Internet, and while I was not successful in locating the coveted Evolution bag, I did make a few interesting discoveries. As you can see, I was going for a vintage "Granny" look.

Morgan Shoulder Bag by HOBO International.
Does this bag look familiar? Anthropologie used to carry it
in green and called it Green Tomato Satchel.

Lynn Satchel by HOBO
I like the rounded top and the gathers.

Robin Wallet by HOBO International
Cute and vintage looking, it's a perfect match to the HOBO bags.
