Anthropologie Inspired

I'm sure I don't have to tell you, that the allure of Anthropologie is not just about the clothing. It's the creativity, the artistry, and the attention to detail that saturates every aspect of the store, from display design to catalogs and, of course, clothing design.

Anthro posted a video on their channel that shows the incredible effort that went into creating the 2015 Gift Book.

Here are some pages from the gift catalog, which I am sure you've already seen.

Gifts for her.

On one hand I feel that it is simply crazy to go through all that trouble just to sell some more stuff, but on the other hand, I can't help but feel inspired by all the creativity and talent that goes into it.

And there's also the store windows and display design. There's  no other brand that I know of, with such magical ambiance in its stores. For me, the Anthropologie store is a destination even if I don't buy anything. Simply, feasting my eyes on the elaborate, one-of-a-kind displays and inhaling the air, fragrant with the scent of candles is enough of a pick-me-up.

Browsing Anthropologie new arrivals, I notices a familiar item. I had to do a double take, as it's a blast from the past. I don't know what made Anthropologie decide to revive the  Corsage Sweater Jacket which was featured on the cover of Anthropologie 2007 Giving catalog, but I'm so excited that they did! What a treat! I hope we will be seeing more Anthropologie old hits revived in the near future.

Also, today only, Anthropologie is treating us to FREE SHIPPING with no minimum! Happy Birthday to me (yup, today really is my birthday! All kinds of wonders are showered unto the world on Sophie's birthday )! Use code JUSTBEACAUSE at checkout.

The Corsage Sweater Jacket is made of boiled wool and is priced $148.

The Catalog Conspiracy

I've been receiving Anthropologie catalogs since 2005. That's eight years worth of catalogs. Eight years is a long time, people. It's a relationship. To put things in perspective, my son was being potty trained the year I discovered Anthropologie. He's now going into fifth grade!
You'd think, nothing can shake a relationship that has lasted this long. Well, I didn't think so either. Then, something strange happened. One month past after another without any Anthropologie catalogs arriving at my door. At first, I thought it was a fluke. Maybe one got lost in the mail. Maybe, the neighbor's son decided that Anthropologie catalogs are much more exciting than playboy and snatched a few. However, after three catalog-less months, I started to worry. I called Anthropologie and asked them why my catalogs stopped coming. They didn't know, but promised to send them out to me. I waited patiently. Nothing. I called again. The friendly customer service rep promised me they will surely add me to the mailing list...for the third time. She even promised to send me the back catalogs that I was missing. It's been a few weeks. Guess if anything came in the mail? I'm starting to wonder if it's a conspiracy. Either Anthropologie really doesn't want me to have those darn catalogs or the mail man is keeping them for himself. Either scenario is pretty disturbing. Are any of you Anthro customers also missing your catalogs?

August Anthropologie Catalog

Leafing through the delightful August catalog, I was taken with all the rich hues, textures and details. As it turns out, I've seen many of these styles earlier, in the New Arrivals section of the Anthropologie website,  but didn't recognize them because of the difference in representation. The vivid colors in the catalog draw you in. They look alive and juicy, whereas the photos on the website, appear cold, lifeless and completely unappealing. I do appreciate Anthropologie making a decision to showcase all styles on a model, as it takes the guesswork out of trying to visualize the garment on a person. However, I think the new style they've adopted for website images completely destroys the appeal of the garment for the online customer. The colors are dulled, while at the same time the contrast is hyped up, creating a very unrealistic and unnerving effect. The models' skin tones are almost non-existent, giving them the appearance of mannequins. The whole effect is just so out of character with the feel of Anthropologie stores that it's really a shame. I was in a store today, and found so many things that I liked, which apparently I completely skipped over on the website.  So that's my five cents on the importance of presentation. Luckily, Anthropologie still puts out catalogs that are a feast for the eyes.

Without further ado, here's August.
